Envolve Center Joins Industry Leaders at Health Innovation Summit: Dan Cave to Deliver Keynote

Date: 06/20/17

Increasingly, St. Louis is getting noticed as a nucleus of several high-profile Fortune 500 national and international companies, with strengths in agricultural and plant science, cyber security, financial technology, food and nutrition, and medical and human health.

On June 28, Dan Cave will be representing parent company Centene Corporation and one of the region’s foremost research centers, the Envolve Center for Health Behavior Change™, when he delivers the keynote speech, “The Enemy is Us: A Call to Action for Disruptive Innovation in the Health Industry and Our Own Personal Health Behaviors,” at the GlobalSTL Health Innovation Summit at Washington University. The event will bring together 20 of the leading digital health companies from Ireland and Israel – together with at least 10 of St. Louis’ industry ambassadors – to leverage collective strengths, to connect, to educate, and to spark the interest of and recruit more top industry talent to set up shop in St. Louis, alongside other established innovators. Approximately 100 to 150 innovation leaders and team members from participating healthcare corporations, investors, and research universities will meet and network at the hub event, as delegation companies from abroad make their pitches and begin building relationships.

Cave brings a deep managed-care industry background blended with the experience of two venture-backed start-ups. He will signal a call to action to “fuel innovative thinking” for health service start-ups and early-stage companies. His remarks will encourage attendees to focus on the core issue facing healthcare today – the avoidable demand for healthcare that emerges out of our lifestyles and behaviors. He will also address the fundamental challenges facing innovators within large and small organizations alike, sharing valuable advice based on his more than 30 years in business as a CEO of entrepreneurial startups, and as a senior executive in large corporations.

The integral, cutting-edge research by the Envolve Center for Behavior Change will feature prominently in Cave’s address.

“Avoidable disease continues to burden our society and its citizenry; we simply must engage our nation’s best and brightest in the journey to discover and apply behavior change science to health and well-being, and compress the time from discovery to application.”

-Dan Cave

The Envolve Center for Health Behavior Change is a unique, industry-academic collaboration between the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, the Center for Advanced Hindsight at Duke University, and Centene Corporation. Leveraging those insights, the Envolve Center develops and tests behavior change strategies, applying them in real-world populations for implementation to push toward better health outcomes, and a resulting decrease in healthcare costs, especially for the Medicaid population.

Cave added, “The Envolve Center is our investment in and commitment to rapidly discovering and applying the best science of health improvement behaviors to society and the members we serve.”
