Envolve's Hurricane Harvey Relief Effort

Date: 2017-09-01

ST. LOUIS, MO (September 1, 2017) – Houston, Texas, and surrounding areas are dealing with incomprehensible flooding and devastation, after being hit by Category 4 Hurricane Harvey and more than a week of record rainfall.

Thousands of residents are still waiting on rescue, while tens of thousands of displaced Texans find refuge in both official and make-shift shelters. Search and rescue efforts continue, but officials warn that conditions will not improve quickly. FEMA and the state of Texas are preparing for one of the largest recovery-housing missions in our country’s history.

Volunteer and humanitarian efforts are underway in affected areas and across the country to help those in need. Envolve is also working to provide assistance in the following ways:

  • In collaboration with the non-profit Americares, we are working to co-facilitate services at more than 40 evacuation centers.
    • Americares is a health-focused relief and development organization that responds to people affected by poverty or disaster with medicine, medical supplies and health programs.
  • SeeMore, the Envolve Vision Van, is heading to Houston to work alongside Healthcare Ready visiting shelters to distribute free glasses to those who lost theirs. We also are working in conjunction with Healthcare Ready to coordinate and distribute multiple donated products and services to Texas area shelters and organizations.
    • Healthcare Ready is an organization established in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina as a central point of contact to help companies, government agencies and other organizations quickly and effectively address healthcare supply chain concerns before, during and after disasters.
  • Envolve is distributing several over-the-counter medications and supplies.
  • Envolve is providing onsite mental health counselors.
  • Envolve is providing dental kits to area residents.

NOTE: Beware of unfamiliar organizations or groups claiming to raise money for Texas flood victims. Although natural disasters often bring out the best in us, they often also bring out scammers, including cyber scammers who use social media, crowdsourcing and charity apps to convince you they are legitimate. Your best bet is to use caution and donate to a reputable and familiar charity or organization.
