Envolve Presents Diabetic Retinopathy Quality Initiatives at Texas Association of Health Plans Fall Directors Forum

Date: 09/26/18

Envolve, Inc.®, an integrated healthcare solutions company, participated at last week’s Texas Association of Health Plans (TAHP) Directors Forum in Dallas, Texas. The theme of the invitation-only event was Strategies for Treating Complex Populations and Improving Outcomes. As a sponsor and associate member of TAHP, Envolve presented to Medical and Pharmacy Directors on Diabetic Retinopathy Quality Initiatives for meeting and exceeding HEDIS measures.

David Lavely, President of Envolve Benefit Options, the division of Envolve that includes vision and dental services, spoke to attendees about the significance closing gaps in care has on mitigating costs associated with the proper use of the vision benefit through provider and member incentives and outreach initiatives. According to CMS, over four percent of diabetics in the United States have vision threatening Diabetic Retinopathy.[1] Using a number of member outreach initiatives, eye exams are scheduled for health plan members, especially those with diabetes, helping detect costly sight-threatening diseases that can then be cared for early.

Envolve delivers vision outreach services specific to diabetic retinopathy to clients to satisfy HEDIS measures and increase the number of members completing eye exams. Through telephonic outreach, medical claim review and data analytics, Envolve proactively engages providers to update member information. On the member side, live agent outreach allows Envolve to educate and schedule eye exams to promote adherence and ensure members understand their vision benefits and the importance of an annual eye exam -- especially if they are living with diabetes.

Envolve also deploys a mobile vision clinics that provide screenings for children and adults who may not otherwise receive them with the goal of promoting the importance of eye care.
